Sequential OB-6 Desktop Module 6-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer
Sequential OB-6 Desktop Module 6-Voice Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer
Portable Classic Oberheim Sound
The OB-6 desktop module boasts the same power and user-friendly design as its counterpart, the OB-6 Keyboard. Equipped with identical controls and offering the same immediacy, this module ensures seamless usability. Just like the OB-6 Keyboard, all parameters are easily accessible, featuring full-sized knobs and switches in a comfortable, intuitive layout.
And the sound? It's colossal — mirroring the keyboard version as it shares the exact internal setup. With an analog signal path featuring discrete VCOs and VCFs, alongside top-tier digital effects, it delivers the renowned Oberheim sound that musicians worldwide rave about.
Moreover, we've introduced a poly chain feature, allowing any two OB-6s to be paired for twelve-voice polyphony!
Two Icons. One Instrument.
Both the OB-6 desktop module and OB-6 keyboard represent a unique collaboration between two titans in poly synth history, Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim. The OB-6 inherits Tom Oberheim's iconic sound — with genuine voltage-controlled oscillators, 2-pole filter, and amplifiers — while integrating modern enhancements like studio-grade effects, a polyphonic step sequencer, an arpeggiator, and more. No other contemporary analog poly synth can claim such a lineage or deliver such a massive, unmistakable sonic character.
Vintage SEM Essence
Inspired by Tom's original SEM, the heart of his celebrated 4-voice and 8-voice synthesizers, the OB-6 sound engine features two discrete voltage-controlled oscillators (plus a sub-oscillator) per voice with continuously variable waveshapes. The classic Oberheim-inspired 2-pole, state-variable, resonant filter offers low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch functions. Completing the all-analog signal path are voltage-controlled amplifiers.
Dual Effects
The dual effects section offers studio-grade reverbs, delays (standard and BBD), chorus, flangers, and faithful recreations of Tom's original phase shifter and ring modulator. Although the effects are digital, maintaining a full analog signal path is ensured with a true bypass.
X-Mod and Poly Step Sequencing
The X-Mod expands tonal possibilities, facilitating the creation of dramatic and unconventional sounds. Modulation sources include filter envelope and oscillator 2, with bi-polar control. Destinations span oscillator 1 frequency, shape, pulse width, filter cutoff, and mode. The polyphonic step sequencer supports up to 64 steps and 6 notes per step, allowing for polyphonic sequences, rests, and synchronization to an external MIDI clock. The feature-rich arpeggiator also syncs to external MIDI clock, offering unison mode with configurable voice count (1-6 voices), chord memory, and key modes.
Easy Programming
The knob-per-function front panel places virtually all OB-6 functions at your fingertips. It comes with 500 permanent factory programs and 500 rewritable user programs. Enabling the Manual button switches to live panel mode, where the sound reflects the current front panel settings.
Easy to Play
This analog powerhouse is condensed into a desktop module small enough to fit in a backpack. It's the perfect blend of portability and potency for both project studios and gigging musicians.
